The outer cover, often made from urethane or ionomer, affects feel, durability, and spin around the greens.

Different types of golf balls are designed to suit different players. Distance balls are typically harder and produce less spin, making them ideal for beginners or those with slower swing speeds. In contrast, premium balls offer greater spin control and a softer feel, appealing to more experienced golfers who prioritize precision and shot shaping. This variety allows players to choose a ball that complements their skill level and playing style.

Technology continues to push the boundaries of golf ball design. Manufacturers use advanced testing methods, including wind tunnels and computer simulations, to refine performance. Some balls even feature alignment aids or enhanced visibility colors to improve accuracy and tracking. Despite these innovations, the basic size and weight of golf balls remain regulated by governing bodies to ensure fairness in the game.
